Fifteen is Coming Quick.
I am so excited! My 15th Birthday is on Monday. But the best part of the entire thing has to be that today, Friday, my sister is coming up from Alabama. I haven't seen her in a long time, I think since last Christmas. WOW. The only thing is it won't be a completely fun trip because we have to do some work that will take a couple of days, but at least I get to see her. About my birthday though, it really sucks that my birthday is on a Monday this year because I have to wait a couple of days to get my learner's since the DMV is closed on Mondays and I have play practice every other day of that week! :[ But I guess I should be happy that I'm getting it.

Who Am I?
My name is Kellen Yarbrough. I am really outgoing, and for the most part, I don't really care what people think of me; I like doing my own thing. I also have this thing where if I'm watching movie and it's one of my favorites, I HAVE to quote it, I can't help it! And for some reason, I love oranges, they're just a pretty cool fruit.
I also have a 21 year old sister named Nikki. She is pretty cool. Right now, she lives in Alabama, but thankfully she is still a Dawgs fan.
Music is a big part of my life. Alternative, classic rock, rock, country... all kinds. The things I like to do are skateboarding, play guitar, taking pictures of scenery, singing, writing, and acting. So far, I've written over 30 songs, recorded some of them with my friend, Matt, had my pictures in a gallery, and written a children's book, that I am trying to get published. This is pretty random, but my favorite colors are red, yellow, and black. I really like red because I think pink is too girly, but red is just a nice mix of girly girl and tomboy, and it's just an awesome color.
I love to travel. I never travel very far, but some places have just stuck in my head becoming a place I can never forget. Nashville, Tennessee is the best place in the world! I wish I could live there, thankfully though, some of my family lives there so I get to visit Nashville frequently. My best friend is Maggie Stein. We're always together; either filming our Youtube show or just hanging out. We're both pretty crazy and our Youtube show portrays us exactly. On one of the shows, we put peanut butter on our face and then we had to see who could put 21 marshmallows on our face first.
Like I said before, music is a big part of my life. I like a pretty diverse group of bands and singers. My top ten favorite right now are Jonas Brothers, Metro Station, Paramore, Demi Lovato, The Beatles, Dolly Parton, Pure Prairie League, Ferras, Chris Cagle, and Keith Urban. I actually got to go to a Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato concert a couple of weeks ago. It was an amazing experience. It also happened to be Demi Lovato's birthday, so we got to sing to her, on her sweet 16. Also, Joe Jonas graduated from high school on the stage. They put on a fantastic show. And some of the most inspiring words I've ever heard were at the concert while Nick Jonas was sitting at the piano bench, playing the piano, preparing to sing "A Little Bit Longer" which is his song about his diabetes. He said "I found out I had diabetes three years ago, and sometimes I really just want let it have control over my life because it would be easy. So this song is for every broken heart, every lost dream, every high and every low. (plays piano more) And everyone, guess what, I'm not letting it take over my life." I though it was so great when he said that, it put me in the mind set that as long I don't let the bad things take over my life, they won't.
I'm also a pretty outdoorsy person. Over the summer and winter break, I go to a camp called Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters. We go skiing, white water rafting, rappelling, biking, and anything you could think of to do in the wilderness of Andrews, North Carolina. Snowbird is also a Christian camp; whenever I go, I always learn different things about my friends and myself. For some reason, there always seems to be drama every time I go there, but we always get through it and I always feel like I've gained so much wisdom.
So pretty much this is me, Kellen McKenzie. :]

Send Me On My Way
I would like to reach out my hand I may see you, I may tell you to run You know what they say about the young Well pick me up with golden hands Oh may see you, Oh may tell you to run You know what they say about the young Well I would like to hold my little, hand I will run I will. I will cry I will. I would like to hold my little, hand. I will run I will. I will cry. Send me on my way, on my way.
(Rusted Root)
The classic "Matilda" song. I think this song amazing! Whenever I hear this song, I just can't help but smile. I mean it's just talking about taking someone's hand and just pushing through and being free. It makes me feel like I can do anything I want to do, which anyone can. The lyrics just make me feel so good and think about how good is to be young. I brings the memory of sitting there on my couch with my sister beside me watching a movie and thinking to myself "Wow, my sister is so cool, I can't wait to be older like her." Now that I am, I wish it hadn't gone by so fast. In about three weeks I'll be driving, scary thought, but it's true. I know that when I can drive by myself, I'm going to have this song on a CD and listen to it constantly with the windows down, blaring as loud as my speakers can handle, and I'll sing it at the tops of my lungs knowing that while I might be older than I was while I sitting there on my couch with my sister, I'll know that I'm still young and that I can embrace every moment of life and push through and just LIVE.(Rusted Root)
